MINUTES – March 8th, 2016

The Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 at the Village Offices with no guests present.

Trustees Present: Bob Hibner, Andy Kremer, Angie Lefeld, Becca Wenning, Kerri Lauber, Elizabeth Wenning, Kylie Lefeld, Sher Stahl, Beth Butler, Keith Selhorst, Shanna Barns, and Jason Wood.

The meeting was called to order by President Beth Butler at 7:32am.

The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Keith Selhorst and was motioned for approval by Bob Hibner and seconded by Andy Kremer. Motion carried.
Checking Balance- $28,403.97
Gift Certificate Balance- $12,872.54

The 2016 Budget Proposal was provided to the trustees and was reviewed. After discussion the 2016 Budget Proposal was motioned for approval by Jason Wood and seconded by Kerri Lauber. Motion carried.

The minutes from the January trustee meeting were sent out prior to the meeting date and were provided by Secretary, Shanna Barns. The meeting minutes were approved, with a motion by Andy Kremer and seconded by Bob Hibner. Motion carried

The 2016 Trustee Listing was provided by Secretary, Shanna Barns, to the trustees and changes were made has directed.

Committee Reports
Establishment of Committees and Committee Chairs- the below listed committees were reviewed and chairs were established. President, Beth Butler, asked that the trustees review the committees and sign up for roughly two each.

Hometown Christmas

Circus
Other Ideas- Discussion was had on other potential event ideas for the Chamber to be a part of or hold. Much discussion was had on having a hiring fair for the local membership and trustees were going to look into more detail to report back at the April meeting. Beth Butler was also going to reach out to Jared Ebbing with Hometown Opportunities.

Old Business
2016 Banquet Recap- The event was well attended with roughly 175 in attendance. Many members commented on the location choice for this year of the American Legion and liked the more intimate setting. Treasurer, Keith Selhorst, provided a 2016 Banquet Income/Expense Report for those present.
2016 Leadership in Action Class- the Chamber will be sending two members to the Celina/Mercer County Chamber Leadership in Action Class. Both spots have been confirmed.

New Business
Shirts- New trustees were asked to provide their shirt size to Beth for purchase of Chamber Trustee Polo Shirts.
Banner- Discussion was had on when the banner should be updated with the changing members.
SOCA Annual Meeting- Beth Butler reported that she will be attending the SOCA event on May 18th. Discussion was also had on possibly holding the chambers SOCA informational luncheon in July for the chamber members to learn more about their benefits.
Shop Local Booklet- Discussion was had and it was determined that the Chamber will not be placing an ad in the booklet this year.

Other Business
Passing of Influential Community Members- Discussion was had in regards to the recent approach from a Chamber Member about the recent passing of the influential Coldwater resident, Jim Sowar and how to recognize these individuals. After much discussion to ensure fairness and consistency, it was decided that the chamber would recognize those individuals publicly via the social media avenues.
50th Year Promotion- In recent research it was found that the articles of the Coldwater Chamber of Commerce were dated in 1966, which makes 2016 the Chamber’s 50th anniversary. Discussion was had the Website/Social Media Committee will develop and use this as a promotional piece for the chamber throughout the 2016 year.

Meeting was adjourned with a motion from Becca Wenning, seconded by Kerri Lauber.
